tional Grant Councillor DeBruijn‘s opinion regarding the use of the $22,000. grant was not changed. He strongly advised against using this money for tot lots. If tot lots are n cessary, the money involved is not too much, and could be raised by the districts themselves. He continued that ther is very poor use of the tot lots, and that experience has shown that teen agers are wrecking the equipment on tot lots. Mayor Veness said that Council still had a resolution to use this money for tot lots. As the ratepayers so clearly expressed, they do not want to use this money for tot lots, Council is of the opinion that this money| jmight be better used for play grounds. Councillor D. Fowler moved to rescind the aotion to spend the $22,000 for tot lots. All Councillor were in favour. The Jmatter will be brought up again at the next Council meeting.
Indoor/Outdoor Swizming Pool Councillor Stewart moved that the Secretary-Treasur- er produce figures for the cost of building various types of swimming pools so that Council can decide at their next meeting what can be done. This motion was lunanimacusly passed.
STURGEON COUNTY HOSPITAL
‘As our readers know, some tine ago, the Sturgeon County Hospital Comittee was formed with representatives from Sturgeon County, Legal, Morinville and st. Albert] Their aim is to have = hospital in Sturgeon Zounty as soon as possible.
This committee has had several meetings. They decided that the first thing to do was to get the cooperation of all organizations and officials in Sturgeon county so that later on, a strong deputation can be formed to meet the Minister of Publcel Health. The Comittee was wise not to argue about the location of the hospital until they are sure that a hospital will be a reality for Sturgeon The Committee, under the chairmanship of Willy lynn, has now invited representat-| ives fros all organizations in Sturgeon County, including Morinville, Legal and St. Albert, to @ meeting which will take place tonight at 8 p.m. in the Legion Hut in Morinville. The purpose of this meeting is to decide vhat action to take for the forming of hospital in Sturgeon County. The Consittee hes not yet de- cided what type of administration (municipal or private) to have for this hospital) The main thing for this committee is to get a hospital as soon as possible, avd tof gis they are strongly supported by the St. Albert & District Chasber of Zornerce, Sturgeon Health Unit and by our local MLA Mr. Keith Everitt, The following letter from the St. Albert & Disttict Chamber of Commerce to the Sturgeon Sounty Hospital Committee expresses very clearly the need for such a hospital.
Dear Sir,
Our Chamber has been avare for some tine of the hospital probles faced by residents of St. Albert and residents of the other urban ad rural areas of the County of Sturgeon. A committee of the Chamber of Comerse has cee piered the matter and has recommended that the Chasber strongly support fhe formation of a hospital district and the construction of « hoapite! to Serve the residents of this area.
